Valentines Day

So..in all honesty, I really don't like Valentines Day much. However, mother and father never fail to try to make it a good day for me, whether I'm hundreds of miles away from my sweetheart or (back in the day when I was) single.  No matter what, I always had two valentines!

This Valentines Day I got it made. I got sweet notes from my valentines, even sweeter chocolates and candy, and a wonderful movie (The Dirty Dozen). The Dirty Dozen has been one of my favorite movies ever since I was a youngen'. You might ask yourself, and will good reason, what exactly is The Dirty Dozen? Is it a spoof off of the movie that shows a family with a dozen kids? Why no, no it is not. The Dirty Dozed came out in 1967. That's right! 1967! Here is how it is described on the back of the box:

They are convicts, psychos, lunkheads, losers- and champs at the box office in movie lore. Decades after it burst onto the scene, The Dirty Dozen remains a milestone among ensemble action flicks.

Lee Marvin portrays a tough-as-nails major volunteered in the Army way to command a squad of misfits on a suicide mission against Nazi brass. Charles Bronson, Jim Brown, John Cassavetes, Trini Lopez, Telly Savalas, Donald Sutherland and Clint Walker are among the 12 jailbirds who will earn their freedom if the survive. And Robert Aldrich directs, blending anti-authority gibes with explosive excitement. Nominated for four Academy Awards, The Dirty Dozen wond for Best Sound Effects.
 So..in conclusion...it's AMAZING! This is a gem of a movie for me and my collection. Thanks dad for somehow finding this! Don't know how you did it! haha (The Dirty Dozen movie trailer...click here!)

But it doesn't end here! This year I actually remembered Valentines Day in time to give some humble gifts of my own to my lovely Valentines.

For Daddy I made the Simple Slouchy Hat designed by Julie Weisenberger. Daddy wanted a thick beanie with a brim and so I chose this pattern. Handsome daddy showing his new beanie!

For Mommy I designed her a case for her nook! I'm pretty dang proud of this because it is my first designing I have done and it incorporates knit and crochet. And here is beautiful Mommy modeling the nook case:

Well, that's it for Valentines Day..except.. thank you mom and daddy for making it special! And..

Happy Valentines Day! (especially you Vlad!) =}
