For my boyfriends niece's 2nd birthday I make her some soft blocks. These blocks had the alphabet and numbers 1-12. There was also a block with animals. I made a matching pillowcase for during the blocks after party. She seemed really interested in then! I can't wait to see how she likes it and plays with them!

Though I think of him very often.
I miss him so much.
I think he will always be my hero.
I hope that who I am now, would make him proud.
I think ever since my 19th birthday I've
been asking that question, "How old am I and when did that happen?". I
think it has something to do with the fact that people don't ask me on a
regular basis how old I am. I always have to think about it too, how
old I am. I guess it's because I always feel the same. Maybe that's
what my elders were talking about. =/ I bet I'm going to have a hard
time admitting I'm 84 when I'll be that old, especially if I still feel
40 LOL. Just like my grandfather. =]

I've
been thinking about grandpa a lot lately. Wondering if he's out there
and watching over me or if he is really only left in our hearts. Either
way, I wish I could have gotten to know him better. Been a little
older when he was around.

Okay,
back to the birthday thing. It was a quiet day, with my boyfriend and
his family but it was nice. Vlad remembered it was my birthday so that
was pretty great and I got tons of birthday wishes and phone calls. I
also was in a huge baking mood so I cooked one classic recipe and one
new pinterest found recipe. The classic older one was the Nestles
Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies but I used mini chocolate chips instead
of regular size. If you haven't tried it, you should! It's got yummy
chocolateness in every bite! Take a look (sorry for the bad photo
quality)!

And of course it was a success as ever! It definitely impressed Jami and Rick too! haha!

The
other thing I made which was new one was Reece's Peanut Butter Bars!
This one was made with Vladimir in mind. I found it through pinterest
on this website.

So, making this recipe made me realize right away the reason why Reese's Peanut butter cups are good. Take a look...

Judging by those ingredients, what's not to love!?

So here was the final result. It was easy to make and I think it tasted even better then the store bought ones! So very good!

So
I made it and it was easy and fast and EVERYONE loved it! Changes I
would recommend is to refrigerate for one hour then cut as desired. Then
refrigerate a while longer to avoid the peanut butter bottom from
crumbling (at least 2 hours if you have the time). However, either way
it tastes just as fabulous!

So that's all I really have to report! =]

I
hope you all are doing great! I'll be seeing my parents tomorrow and
the in-laws and the parents are finally officially meeting this week!
GETTING NERVOUS!

I'll report back soon I hope!

Hope you're all doing well!

Love,

Hello there!

It's been a couple lazy days since I've last updated and I'm almost caught up with pictures of adventures to post so I better get out there again and explore soon!

It's been nice though, relaxing all day...not feeling guilty doing it. It's an incredible sensation. I haven't mentioned it before on here but among other medical issues that I've had this year (which I mean to write a post about) I was diagnosed with severe General Anxiety Disorder. I chose not to be medicated (of course lol) so I've been controlling it by doing my own things. A few things that I need to avoid to help reduce my anxiety is stress (duh!), alcohol, caffeine and processed foods. Last week I had a little flare up it seemed of my anxiety and I think it could be due to some caffeine free soda I have been having. I've been having more processed foods then I usually have so I'll have to watch that. But another thing that helps is to exercise. It was rainy last week so it could have been that I had not gotten out as much as I had been. Yet another reason for me to go have an adventure!

So back to the original purpose of this post. On Sunday Jami, Liam, Vlad and I went to a park that has a trail along the coast of an inlet. It was a lovely walk and it had a bunch of different types of environments to explore, from rocky beaches to sandy beaches and large lawns of grass to some old rock places. So here are some pictures. I'd like to warn you that it was a fat day for me (I hadn't eaten well the day before and barely drank any water so I was pretty bloated up). Anyway the point is, my belly just wouldn't stop saying hello!

On Saturday Vlad, his mom Jamie, his step-dad Rick and his brother Liam and me went to Vancuover's China Town. It was a pretty cool experience. I have been to the San Fransisco China Town and it was actually quite similar, although smaller. It was an interesting part of town and we walked toward the waterside. There we proceeded to look for a restaurant, after about 1 hour we had found countless pubs (from nice to sketchy) and one Mexican restaurant. Crazy! So we opted to drive to dinner, which was Red Robin. Yummy! It was a very nice day and it was nice to be out and about seeing things and people. We were walking through a not so good area of town and we found this painting on the side of the wall. The alley before it was covered in art as far as I could see down it from my place by the mouth of it. I was compelled to take a photograph. I don't think that the details were able to be captured by this photo but it was a very detailed, thought out painting. It was just so heartening to see beauty in a not so good area. Enjoy!

We went for a little adventure the other day down a trail we saw while driving home. It ended up going North for quite a few kilometers and we tried getting back another way but ended up having to back track to the trail and traveling back south that way because there was not way going through unless we went through farmlands! So here are some pictures of our journey!

In the states we have a long weekend coming up but for the Canadians up here in British Columbia celebrated a long weekend with Victoria Day. It celebrates something about the capitol city, or about the queens birthday it's named after, I've heard both! lol!

The point is, for the weekend Vlad and I visited his dad, Vlad (yes, the same name. My Vlad would be a fourth but they gave the Vlad's different middle names, I like the tradition actually). Vlad and his dad really love going to movies so while we were there Mr. Vlad took us to The Dictator and to The Avengers. I liked them both. I was really disappointed though that The Dictator didn't make fun of Americans and stupid things we do more like the advertisements led me to believe. It is about time we get some of those movies circulating. As for the Avengers, no complaints whatsoever! Very good!

So here is some pictures of our beach adventure. Mr. Vlad is native and grew up around animals and hunting them so he taught me quite a bit of cool things about the marine animals we saw. And he really could read the weather, maybe it's just because I am not used to their weather but I was impressed, ha!

So, here are the pictures!

Hello everybody!!!

You're looking at a new Level 3 nursing student!

That is right! I passed!

I was worried there for a bit, if I would. They weren't joking when they said Level 2 was hard.

I didn't meet my goals for getting all A's, but that is still a goal I will work for for Level 3.

For Level 2 the first 8 weeks I earned a 91.14%, and for the second 8 weeks I earned an 86.03%. Which translates into a B+ and a B-.

I'm a bit unhappy that I didn't get A's but I feel that I did do my very best and, well, that's all I can do.

In other news, I am currently in a Starbucks in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada!

That's right! I'm visiting the boyfriend.

(By the way, Port Coquitlam is pretty much right next to Vancouver.)

Here is a picture of Vlad, he says hi.

These are pictures of us on a hike, which then turned into a jaunt around town. All said and done we ended up walking for 4 hours with a 30 minute break to eat some lunch at A&W. According to my ipod I walked over 13,500 steps on that journey alone! The incredible thing was I wasn't sore at all the next day. I feel that this was such a strong indication of my huge progress. I have never walked so much for so long at such a fast pace in all of my life (as far as I know). On top of that, Vlad said I look way more fit that the last time he saw me (which was last Christmas).

I'm just so very happy to see my determination paying off. All of those hikes with Erin and Roxie, and walks with Dad. Then my new found addiction to Fat-free cottage cheese (which they don't seem to have real cottage cheese in Canada, sad panda!). I just feel so proud of myself. I'm down to 142 pounds or so.

My next step is to continue what I am doing. I need to do more squats and sit-ups on a daily basis and to be sure that I don't miss a day. Then I feel I should work a bit more on my Starbucks intake (though it has improved tremendously) and overcoming a craving. Most of my problems come from a lack of self control. I know I have much farther to go, but I am so ecstatic by my improvement so far and how good I look in shorts lol.

Another thing that has to do with being more self-controlled is doing my master knitting class working. I've slowly been working on it recently but I need to get a move on it! Another thing I need to do is suck it up and sign up for my summer classes! I will have that finished by next week! =]

I hope to be back tomorrow with more pictures of our adventure on PoCo (Port Coquitlam) Trail and I need to do a post about my medical adventures so far this year. See you soon!

Love,

P.s. I want to thank everyone for their support during this semester. I really appreciate it and I love you guys!
LeeAnn Purthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04125966749385214463noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2852656215214256065.post-2773305908887924422012-02-22T22:13:00.000-07:002012-02-22T22:13:39.508-07:00FO: Comfort Pillow

*This was a birthday present for my daddy this year. If you remember last years birthday present that I made for my daddy you'll notice that it matches. This is the same yarn that has a very special meaning (meaning is described in previous post link) to both daddy and me and I was so happy to make this matching set for him. He was very happy with it! *

Yarn used: Some older super saver solid

Color:tan, brown, light brown, off-white

Use yarn again? Until I get rid of all of this yarn. However they are pretty nice finished projects. =]

Project Details and Feedback

Duration of Project: June 7th, 2011 to January 21st, 2012

Made for: Daddy

Modifications: Well. My modification was that I put an edging on one side (some sc rows then a dc row on one side, the other side I did a few rows of sc). Then I did a flap on one edge of the side that had only sc (1 dc row). Then I connected the three sides and corners and put buttons on the flap (then took the open edge and put it over the flap, there is a picture below of this).

Make this pattern again? Yes! These were both very wonderful results. I really enjoyed the Wool-eater pattern and it went so fast and was so fun. (However it was hard to get a hang of at first so if you check out the projects that were helpful to me on my Ravelry page then you can find the instructions I used to help me). I am just so happy with how it turned out!

Final thoughts/ recommendations: I recommend both patterns. If you want to avoid weaving in ends the wool-eater blanket is the pattern for you. However I feel that the Flowers in the Snow would be lovely in a light weight yarn as a very feminine blanket, shawl or any thing of that sort. That would be wonderful to see!

What I learned/practiced in this pattern: I practiced weaving in ends and I really was reinforced in the importance of not doing some patterns while you're talking (the wool-eater blanket)!

Just wanted to say I'm having a tough time. I am now almost 90% certain that my thyroid hormone levels are off again (hypo, again). So for the past four weeks I have been getting progressively worse. This is why I haven't been posting. I was typing a post for today and I fell asleep. While typing. Yep, now I know what it is and I can't get tested until maybe Thursday. Hopefully it resolves itself. I"m going to try to keep pushing myself to get stuff done though. Finals are next week after all.

Thursday I have a Doctors appointment with a new doctor to get a second opinion on my functional hypoglycemia diagnosis. I think it's something more, or more severe and I need to have a recommendation for dietician counseling. Either way I am confident that this doctor will listen to me and take the time to put the symptoms together. He comes with an extremely high recommendation from a picky friend! I'm looking forward to it. So hopefully Thursday night I can report back with some news. If not hopefully I can do a FO post >_< I still owe you them!!!

Keep me in your thoughts. I'm chugging along. (Oh, I'm still managing to do my running, yay!)

Love,
LeeAnn <3LeeAnn Purthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04125966749385214463noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2852656215214256065.post-86100838866659186212012-02-12T00:31:00.002-07:002012-02-12T00:31:38.397-07:00My mind is a little bit of...well, everywhere.Just doing a quick little post. I ran/walked 3 miles on Friday! Wowwwww! I'm so proud of myself because I mostly ran it. I couldn't believe how well I was doing. I was laughing and giggling the whole time and singing. My favorite running song to sing right now (and for awhile I think) will be "I'm following the leader." Yeah, the one from Peter Pan! It is soooo cute! =]

However today...Saturday, I was feeling aweful. I really don't it was related but I think it was more just bad luck. =/ so NO run today like I had planned! Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to run. I have a new marathon training schedule to prepare for a marathon on June 3rd. If it happens it happens, if not, that's okay. But I'm going to try without losing site of my priorites.

Speaking of priorities I got my Exam II grade back. 76.4%. Barely passed, but I passed and it is above the test average for the class (crazy!). Only dropped me 2% of my overall grade too. So I am still in a pretty great place. However, my goal is an A so I'm going to have to do a bit more focus on the school thing. I studied with my friend for the test and I feel it really really helped me so we're going to be doing it again only more consistently. I'm pretty excited actually. It is fun to study with someone who cares just as much as I do about our grades. (Speaking of which she did really good: 80%- she was definitely more prepared than me so she deserves it!) Other than that, school is going great and I'm no where near as stressed as I was the last two weeks!

I have also been reading a book. Well, listening to it but I feel it is more of a lecture. I am pretty sure I have mentioned this before about who I count it as reading because I really am truly paying attention to it and learning all of the meanings that the author intended for the reader to understand. If you remember Bell from Beauty and the Beast (yes more Disney related topics) I am just like her when it comes to reading a good book. I am absolutely consumed by it. Don't remember how she is? Check out this video! Lol! That is me! I do that in grocery stores or shopping with the parents. If it is a good book I read it over eating and sleeping. Yes, I'm serious. So I'm reading The Scarlet Letter but because it is an audio book "study" of the book I can't go nonstop with it...well, I"m trying very hard not to! I'm on chapter 10 already! If you're interested it is on craftlit and it is incredible.

OH MY! I almost finished the post off without actually talking about what I wanted to mention!!! DOH!!!
So here it is. I found that jumping jacks are extremely difficult. Never thought they would be, don't know why, but they are kicking my butt. So this past month I haven't been able to keep up with my goals of jumping jacks and side situps per day. I'm going to switch back this week to sit ups and throw in side situps when I feel I'm ready. My goal is at least 50 per day and hopefully 70 by the end of the month. I did discover however, that jumping jacks are very effective at waking you up and warming you up. Just do 20 and you are nice and toasty and just do 50 and you are wide awake!

Well thanks for reading!

Love,
LeeAnn

p.s. I bound off a project last night. That makes me 2 FO posts behind >_< I'll do those soon I hope!LeeAnn Purthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04125966749385214463noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2852656215214256065.post-42270707930456945112012-02-05T01:54:00.002-07:002012-02-05T01:58:35.523-07:002012 Goals Progress: January review

This is a post to examine my goal progress that I achieved throughout January. I thought I would just update and compare my original goal list with what I have done. The original post with my complete goal list can be found here!

A quick note:

I am constantly analyzing myself and evaluating myself, my progress, my goals, everything. However, I am not used to sharing it with people. Please be polite (especially with any pictures posted) and realize that this is as a record of what I have done so I can see my progress from one month to the next. I have never had a problem with negativity but feel that it is important to set the foundation. On that note, any constructive criticism, or tips and tricks or experiences that you have are always welcome and I would be honored if you shared them with me! Thank you for reading my blog and posts. I really appreciate you taking the time and having interest in what I say.

Here we go!!!

Knitting

Overall I felt that I have done quite a bit in this area. I feel that when I am just so done with studying for a bit, I knit. That way I don't feel guilty about not studying. Looking back at the month I noticed that that really adds up! That's the sum of this section, you can just skip to the next summary or if you're really interested you can read the specific things in this section I did.

1 large blanket: So far I am currently working on this blanket while I study (st st) and I am at least 1/3 of the way through it.

2 baby blankets: I am so close to done with one baby blanket. I feel that it isn't quite done and I will know when it is the right length. I am fighting very hard to not bind to early just because I want it to be done. I do however have new inspiration for this part because Vlad's mom is expecting another baby!!!

pair of socks for dad: I am currently working on his socks. I picked them out and am almost on the turning of the heal for the first sock. These will not fit snuggly but that is okay because they are slipper socks. I was going to make these for a Christmas gift but dad kept bringing up that he really needed new hand-knit socks. How can I refuse? I am actually making incredible progress on these.

2 sweaters for me: This one I worked on at the beginning of the month. I had finished the back piece, put it down and haven't touched it since. I put it down so I could work on my dad's B-day present and will pick it up after I get 2 WIPs done!

hand knitted gifts for Christmas for everyone: This was actually a birthday gift for daddy and I will be blogging about it in my next post. I feel that it deserves a mention under a hand made gift category!

Fitness

I feel that I really made a lot of good changes in January. I am however, no where near my goal yet, but that's the point. Progress. This section is very hard for me. It is by no means my strong area and I have a hard time not getting discouraged. However I have been taking one day at a time and I feel that just by doing that I have done very good so far.

keep a food journal: did it! I wrote everything down. I have a hard time some days to remember to write it down right away but twice a day I sit down and make sure I wrote everything. I have noticed that I have been eating breakfast more often because of this, even if only one boiled egg white. I have also avoided eating small little things here and there such as M&Ms quite a bit simply because it takes up space and time just to write it down. It is very encouraging to me that this method is actually a proactively beneficial thing for me. I do need to look at how I did each week and make goals for the next week though. I think that is the next step, along with keeping better track of the water that I drink.

run or be able to run a half marathon by year end: I have planned out a running plan for the next four weeks. I am very nervous about it because I have never been a runner. Ever. I have run/walked with my doggies during this month but am finding it difficult to control both of them and work on running, especially timing how long I run with my second hand watch. I might have to think about how I can sneak out without them noticing. (like that will happen! lol) However, I must figure something out because by the end of the next four weeks I will be able to run 30 minutes straight!!

get the stomach I want (or as close as possible considering my body shape) by year end and do something active every day: last month I did sit-ups every day following a pre-made calender. At January 31st I was doing 50 situps when January 1st I could barely do 5!!! What a confidence boost. I tried very hard not to suck in for these pictures haha! I actually see some progress..which I honestly did not expect. I am so ready to be at the place I want to be, so I can't give up now! So, Here are my before/after pictures of one month...

February 1, 2012

learn more about types of workouts and fitness information: I am really learning some stuff! I found this website and it has helped me out. This is actually where I got my running plan for the next four weeks! I think that I do need some really basic information so I might go to the library and see if they have a running for dummies or something!

get
out of habit of drinking Starbucks every time I go there to study: I haven't been going to Starbucks as frequently but I am still drinking it every time I go there and I am still drinking it as frequently throughout the week as before. This is something I need to work on especially because it will not be apart of my new diet!

Education

School...do I really have to go there? I guess I do. It is going okay. Busy... and I am getting a lot of anxiety. It's making me feel sick and influencing my fitness section I think. It also influences my ability to focus and I have really had a lack of motivation for the past two weeks. I however am definitely on the top part of my class at the moment and for the first time in years, I actually feel smart. It is an incredible feeling and I don't want to lose it so I need to keep trying. I need to keep going.

Get all A's in my class: I am working on it! I swear! I'm just trucking along, trying to do all assignments and learn everything. So far so good, I have an 89% (An A is a 95% and an A- is a 92%) and I am confident that my next test will be a higher score than the 84% (most people got less than a 75% so I feel very good about that grade).

Apply for the equivalent of 2 scholarships a month: I did research this and found that not a lot of scholarships start yet. I will have to apply for scholarships for the fall semester.

Do all readings for my classes: So far so good! I completed all of my readings for Exam I. Exam II might be difficult to complete the readings but I do not thing I need to read it word for word so as long as I cover and read all material I think is important. If I do that I will feel as though I have completed this goal.

Reading

In this subject I have made very little progress but I have made progress...which is surprising to me!

read at least 6 books by the end of the year (school textbooks don't count!): I have started a audiobook reading that includes a lesson. It's like an actual class and it describes the historical references in the book and the symbolism in it. It is made for people who do crafty things with their hands, it's called Craftlit. Interested? here is the link. I usually do not count listening to an audiobook as reading a book. I listen to harry potter audiobooks every single day. However this is an actually stimulating thing and I will be following along with the reading so I feel that this is worthy for this section. What's that? What book am I reading? Why of course! silly me! I am reading The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Frankly, I am very excited about this and can't wait to find out what happens! I will try to do one chapter a week.

Blogging

Dismal to say the least. February is a month in which I must really work on this. My issue with posting is 2 things. 1. I'm a perfectionist. I feel that if it's not perfect I shouldn't post it. However, I just need to post the dang thing sometimes. I regret not posting some posts and I just don't want to forget these experiences! I must post! -and- 2. I have a hard time allowing myself to post blogs when I know I have school work I can do. I do however need to realize that taking a break can lead to more progress than just doing a marathon study session. (and that goes with running breaks too!)

Well...That is everything...

Phew!

If you are still reading this, I am rather impressed. I hoped that it was enlightening to you and maybe encouraged you to think about yourself and your own goals too. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. These are my goals, my areas I want to improve. Any insight or recommendations you can provide me will be beneficial. I would love to hear from you!

Hello everyone! I am super busy and I have been feeling...off...lately. I'm sure you understand that feeling! haha. However I have been a busy bee and I'm trying desperately to keep up with school work. I am hoping to get ahead or on top of things this week and I am feeling confident in my ability to do that. I have been evaluating my ability to do things in a timely manner and why I am not getting things done very well at all. I came to the conclusion that i need to do more than just a to-do list that extends to four days and a daily schedule. Nope, i need to do a weekly schedule with a to-do list for the entire week and next week. So, reaching this conclusion I am going to kidnap my mother tomorrow and we're going to draw up my schedule (she's a wonderful secretary and manages to always find the right format for me!) I'm very excited about this step and I hope that it will move me in the right direction. I have an FO (that needs buttons) that I will post about very soon and I still have tons of other posts...I'm soooo behind. However the end of the month is coming up and that is one post I will not miss (my monthly resolution evaluation).

Until I can get you those posts I thought I would share with you something I did for class. You may or may not know that I am going to nursing school to become a Register Nurse. Well I am in Upper Division: Level 2 out of 5 and am going to be having clinical all semester! (Yes, 15 weeks! Wow!) For this semester they changed the format of our weekly packet. At the end of it we have a "Clinical Journal." Now this is my thoughts of the clinical day and my performance and how I am feeling. Just like a journal! I figured I would post it on here because it is definitely something from my heart and definitely something I shouldn't forget. I should be able to post all of these because no patient information will likely be in it. If there is then I will edit it for the blog, or will choose not to post it.

I hope you enjoy it and I miss you very much. I have been loving looking at the wonderful blogs that have been posted recently so don't stop please! They help so much! Any thoughts or comments or feelings or constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.

I was very
encouraged for this first clinical experience. Many things are already making
this a more positive clinical rotation than last. First, I am going to have so
many different kinds of patients which will allow me to learn about many
different diseases and disease processes. It will also help me with my
therapeutic communication skills because I will be able to communicate with
many different persons who are in the hospital for various different reasons. I am also excited about this rotation because
this is more of an environment that I can see myself working in than the last
one. I was stricken by how different the nurses and staffs attitudes were
compared to the other facility. The nurses at this hospital seemed so positive and
genuinely happy to see the students here. I really look forward to seeing how
they care for patients. I am also very
excited about this level’s clinical because I will be shadowing a particular RN
this time. At the last facility I felt that I had only really learned medication
administration and CNA responsibilities.
I am very excited for the new learning opportunities this will present
to me. I am however very nervous about
my performance. I feel extremely
unprepared. I think that this is mainly
due to my inexperience in the nursing/care giving/hospital setting and due to
the fact that I have not truly followed a nurse yet. I feel that this also is much faster paced and
I am scared of making a mistake or not being a source of comfort for the
patient’s. However, I do have confidence
that my instructor will be there for me. I was pleasantly surprised to find
that I was getting to like her more and more the more she told us about herself
and the more she talked about the facility and her roles and our roles. I felt
that that conversation really helped me calm my nerves a bit. I just need to
remind myself that I will not be a perfect nurse in the beginning of level 2. I
am there to learn, and I am ready and willing to learn and I care about doing
my best, and that yes, that is enough.

I have some lovely posts to share with you all but I've been pretty busy. I hope to get to them this weekend, or at least one!

My classes for level one started Tuesday and to be honest right now I'm not sure I can keep my resolution of reading all the required material for class! lol! However tonight I sat down and finished listening to my lectures and I already have most of a study guide typed up and am answering some questions in my mind already as I go. So, I'm feeling more and more confident that I just might be able to do this! =]

I went for a nice long walk today with the puppies. I walked to Starbucks and back so it was about 3 miles. I think it was my quickest time with my shortest break! I'm trying to get to the point where I can run there and back and then I'm going to let myself go farther and farther! Baby steps! =] I have been keeping active every day too! I've been doing situps every day and following this challenge. Right now I'm on 20 situps! I could barely do 5 situps on January first! I think it's incredible what are bodies can do when we put them up to it!

Well, back to studying! I really hope to get back this weekend to tell you about my hikes I went on with Vlady!

Hope you're all doing great!

Love,
Project Details and Feedback

Duration of Project: April 30th to October 29th, 2011

(I finished the knitting, blocking and seaming but May 11th but didn't get the buttons on till October 29th.)

Modifications: No modifications except for yarn and needle to get gauge. Oh! I crocheted the edges instead of picking up stitches and knitting it.

Make this pattern again? I would love to make this pattern in the brown cocoa color. If I get to make this again I would make sure I make it longer in the body, shorter in the neck and much more fitted. I think that I will also do what Dawning Dreams did and for the back I will just purl one row then continue to the neck piece because the number of bind off stitches and the number of cast on stitches don't match up and you're supposed to connect those edges... >_<. It was kind of frustrating. I am still trying to figure out some outfits to wear with this. I don't want my boobs looking too small. =P

Final Thoughts/Recommendations: I feel that this is defiantly a pattern to be sure you have fitted to your measurements although I am not at the level yet to do that because the pattern seems hard for me to customize. (Though I just realized that the back would be an easy place to make it a fitted feel.

Anyway, this is super cute and super quick to make!
Project Details and Feedback

Duration of Project: December 11th to December 18th, 2011

Modifications: Because this was a DK weight yarn I cast on 84 stitches with US 7's. I made it as long as I could until I was scared to run out of yarn. I probably could have done one more repeat but that's okay. The goal was to have this hat be a nice fitted slouchy hat. It fits very nicely and I think it will get slouchier the more he wears it. =]

Make this pattern again? This is the second time I made a hat from this pattern and I still love the results. I definitely will be making another one maybe for me this time!

Final Thoughts/Recommendations: Definitely recommend this pattern, especially as a gift for a guy.

Final Thoughts/Recommendations: Definitely worth a try but the "pattern" (it's more a few notes to get your creative juices flowing) is not specific in how to start. I'd look around at different peoples project pages to see how they started it. I marked people as helpful if they had information like that so you could start at my page and look at who helped me out.
Modifications:
I cast on 130 stitches (which is one extra lace repeat).

Make this pattern again? Yes, I think so. This is such a lovely result and I think it's so beautiful.

Final Thoughts/Recommendations: This would be a great pattern to do for beginning lace knitters or as a T.V./spare time knitting project. I really enjoyed it and was surprised by how fast it went.

Good news.

Since my last post I managed to survive finals and that crazy week before finals with about 4 papers/projects due. This semester I got 1 B and 3 A's. Not too shabby.

(p.s. the B was in Pharmacology...can't blame me can you? lol!) =]

On more interesting (and possibly more important news!) I was able to start knitting on a sweater for myself, this one! Unfortunately I'm still on my first piece, the back. But I'm less than an inch away from the sleeve decrease! Hip hip Horrayy!

I was also able to knit two smaller projects. one was this cowl as an instant gratification project and it really was! =] The other one was a traditional noro Christmas hat for my boyfriend. I went with this pattern.

I hope to catch up on FO posts before the end of the year and do my end of the year FO count! Deadline is getting close! lol.

The weather is lovely here. How are you guys doing?
